CURRENT STATUS: alive, a wheelchair user, probably depressed but let's move on
INVENTORY: 1. a duffel bag containing 2. a foldable wheelchair and 3. his revolver and its remaining single bullet, along with 4. one more round of 6 bullets, 5. a tube of blue lipstick and 6. bags of a mix of freshly-picked and dried herbs, specifically chamomile and mint.

YOUKAI INFO

YOUKAI: kotengu; named 伶広 'Rento'; 伶 ('ren' meaning 'lonely, solitary') 広 ('to' meaning 'vast, wide')
MASK APPEARANCE: blue feathered eagle with pink accents, at least his youkai was kind enough to match johnny's theme colors
ABILITIES: updated as of 3/22, all his abilities are related to physical changes as described below.
CHANGES: johnny has many physical changes so far. the feathers trailing from the base of his skull and continuing to the end of his cervical vertebrae have grown more numerous and have worked their way across the tops of his shoulders. he often has talons erupt through the ends of his fingers, at random or guided by his moods. he has once painfully grown temporary wings during a moment of necessity; they...sort of worked.

his mental changes are a sudden affinity for and urge to hoard objects that stand even a slight chance of being useful (and steadily including ones that don't) and the simple internal wrestling of how much to give over to this sudden new mutual relationship. johnny learned his youkai's name, Rento, as a result of the march event strengthening everyone's awareness of the beings living with them. he is becoming sometimes sympathetic to the youkai and more often has his mood or decisions influenced by its emotions and drives; he is so far still aware of the separation between them however, just is more likely to be swayed by it.

johnny is bolder about wearing his mask to gain more powers, especially ones related to mobility.

IC PERMISSIONS

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: always okay oocly. johnny is a moderately typical teenage boy in that it's unlikely he'll initiate physical affection outside of dire circumstances, and he will likely react with either initial mild disinterest/displeasure at being touched, OR will be very moved by it; his ic response will depend on cr.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: always okay oocly. first things first: johnny is a paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury, so while he absolutely will fight back if necessary, it's not going to be a boxing match, and he'll likely use tools/weapons/or simply try to escape. johnny has been de-powered upon entering the game of his weird canon magic ability that he'd just barely been getting used to, and he's gonna be very annoyed that he has to use an ACTUAL gun now to shoot things. also he definitely brought a gun to slumscape bc he's from the late 1800s and you could just. buy guns.
RELATIONSHIPS/SEX: i don't typically ship but i'm open to seeing where cr evolves to. johnny's canonically shown to be interested in women and while he has a, uh, higher body count than one might expect for a guy from the late victorian era (he was something of a Big Deal back home before he got injured), he's newly bitter about relationships and it would be a slow burn.
MEDICAL INFO: mentioned already, but johnny is a paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury and cannot feel or move his legs from about the waist down. aside from this, he's fine and in fact strong enough for it to be remarked on by other characters.
MENTAL INFO: johnny is not a very happy person! he houses a lot of self-hate that translates outward in unfortunate ways. he's had both extremes of the empty praise and attention that comes with fame, and with the experience of being ignored by (and eventually kicked out of the house by) a parent. johnny being Not Okay is very much a driving force for his canon's story and it will almost absolutely come up in some way in all threads with him. please let me know if you need anything toned down or nixed entirely.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: johnny's canon (and so therefore his narrative/dialogue) can contain internalized ableism, death, violence/gore, misogyny, child marriage (albeit very easy to avoid bringing up), depression/depressive thoughts, semi-suicidal thoughts ('it would be better if i had been the one who died' sort of things, no planning of self-harm), body horror, medical abuse, child abuse, and uh let's go with religious themes. without spoilers i'll just warn that jesus is a real person in johnny's canon, i can elaborate if you'd like but it's unlikely to come up TOO much given his canonpoint.
ANYTHING ELSE: i am LOVING the youkai mechanic in this game and would love to incorporate it more in threads, both from johnny's end and the other character's. lmk if him going off on his youkai/having lots of Thoughts on it in-thread is welcome or not, i don't want to chew the scenery too much but it's a good portion of why i picked this game for him. o7

ANYTHING ELSE: an additional note about johnny's disability: johnny's self-hate is tied up a lot in his lack of ability to use his legs. as the writer i will try to make it clear in tags that any disparaging thoughts are johnny's own and not mine, but if i ever make you uncomfortable, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and give feedback about that.

the youkai is impersonal from the start; confident in its isolation, rejecting humans; as it's bested by them over the centuries by being tricked however, it gains a limited awareness of respect for them that doesn't extend to kindness, but instead to wanting to learn from them; it becomes a much more coherent mimic for seduction and trickery; over time since it rings so falsely when close enough for it to matter, the youkai relies solely on being blunt about its needs and the others; it's not actually good at reading what people want or need but it is more willing than most tengu to collaborate, bc it has an awareness of the clever resourcefulness of humans and would rather have that as a weapon IT can use than have it be used against itself;
